Green Club
Green club was established in the academic year 2002 – 2003.
The Objective is to create awareness among the students regarding the
environment and to instill a feeling of responsibility for a better, green
and clean environment.

Highlights
1.Annual organization of tree plantation camp in near by villages
2.Guess Lecturers are arranged on topic like prevention of pollution,
greening the earth, Waste Management, Recycling etc.,
3.Resource Persons from various departments are invited.
4.Out Reach Programmes are arranged to create awareness among the housewives
in the near by villages.
5.Skits, tableau, street play, chart work etc., are presented by the
students for promoting a good environment.
Mission
1.Avoiding the use of Plastic covers (carry bags), disposable cups inside
the campus and the use of Plastic bottles (like cool drinks bottles) as
water bottles.
2.Avoiding the use of Silver and plastic pots to retain water.
3.Conducting a seminar to other club students or other department students
to give some awareness about environmental protection.
4.Conducting an out reach programs in near by village to motivate the
importance of ecology and to give some awareness about how the air, noise
and water are polluted.
5.Keeping two types of dust bins in the name of “Degradable” and “Non
Degradable” inside the campus.
6.Planting more saplings around our surroundings.

The club was inaugurated by Mr.Henry Typhagne, Advocate, Director of
People’s watch on 5th July ,2007.

Club Activities
The activities of Green Club started on July.
Every day two members of the club were asked to water the plants after 1.30
and other two members were asked to watch over the Barcola and Sanjose Block
for maintaining the cleanliness.
Jul. 2007 – On 12th Ms.Yazhini Priya, Member of Blood Donar club, Medical
College gave a speech on blood donation and she gave awareness to the
students and encouraged them to donate blood.
Jul. 2007 – On 19th Election for the office bearers for the year 2007 – 2008
were selected and also the motto of the green club were discussed.
Jul. 2007 – On 26th Students ideas about the actions that could be
implemented in the development of greenery and clean surroundings were
collected and was also included in the year plan.
Aug 2007 – On 9th Father.Paul Britto, Parish Priest, B.B.Kulam gave an
elaborate seminar on uses of trees and the destructions caused due to
pollutions. The seminar gave an idea to develop the pollution free
environment.
Aug 2007 – On 16th Students interaction on the topic greenery was discussed
as a debate.
Aug 2007 – On 23rd Students who went to kodaikanal organized programs such
as skit, speech regarding the topics they learnt in their tour to the junior
jaycee students and other green club students.
Sep.2007 - On 8th ,There was a cycle rally from Fatima college to paravai on
account of World Literacy day and our students participated in that..
Sep.2007 - On 13th ,Our Students went for canvassing other students about
the ill effects of plastics, and they also collected details regarding
greenery form the library.
Sep.2007 - On 20th A Debate was organized among the students on the topic
‘The Effects of Industries’
Sep.2007 - On 27th Members were asked to pluck grass in the college campus.
Oct.2007 - On 11th Students had a discussion session regarding the usage of
plastics. The topic was ‘Plastics – good or bad’ .
Oct.2007 - On 25th Students gave speech on poverty, and the measures to
eradicate poverty. There was also a debate on the India’s Poverty level in
2020 along with the junior jaycee students..
