The Indian Parliament passed the National Cadet Corps Act in 1948, thus creating the National Cadet Corps (NCC).The Aims of the National Cadet Corps are;

• To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular out look, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.

• To create a human resource of organised, trained and activated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and always available for the service of the nation.

The NCC Unit of Fatima College was started in 1958, now consisting of 131cadets and 2 staff members.

NCC ANNUAL REPORT 2009 - 2010

AIM OF NCC:

1)     To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and ideals of service among the youth to make them useful citizens.

2)     To create a human resource of organized trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life including the armed forces and be always available for the service of the nation.

3)     To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

NATIONAL BUILD UP

                    NCC develops the personality of the student through various training, adventure and cultural activities.  A child transform into a disciplined, mature and integrated youth, which goes a long   way towards National development.

                   The NCC is looking for those children with intelligent, grit, determination and courage. They are children with fire in their belly, resilience in their mind and the will to win. Though our stringent yet flexibility and versatile curriculum we are nurturing them to be effective citizens in the years to come.

                                There are 132 cadets guided by one ANO and two Staff members

 ACTIVITIES:

 Ø  Parade will be held on all Thursdays from 2.00 to 6.00 p.m

 Ø  Instructions will be followed as given by the NCC Unit

Ø   Participation made in the general activities arranged by the college

Ø  Tree Plantation

Ø  Blood Donation Camps

Ø  Camps on various places in India

Ø  Cycle Rally and other rallies

 NCC REPORT: 2009 – 2010

There are totally 132 cadets in the NCC unit of Fatima College. The 41 I year Cadets are newly enrolled 2009 with the last year 91 of the II year Cadets. One ANO with two Care takers are guiding them in all their activities.

            We are proud to present the Annual Report of 2009 – 2010 for our student achieved and attended various Camps and Social Service activities and bring laurels to the institution.

CAMP AND TRAINING:  

The Inter Unit Camp (IUC) was held at Virudhunagar from 12. 06. 2009 to 21.06.2009 (10 days). 11 of our cadets attended, out 11 cadets three of them got training for RDC and 8 for TSC.

                            3 of our cadets G. Shangeetha of II IT, V. Shyamala Devi of II Maths and R. Maria Baslin of II Physics attended Inter Group Camp (IGC) held at Kovilpatti from 03.07.2009 – 12.07.2009 (10 days). 07.08.2009 – 16.08.2009, 5 of our following cadets attended Lanch I Camp at Rajapalayam.

                            For RDC training the following students got selected.

                            For TSC training the following students got selected.

10 days special training camp for TSC and RDC cadets was attended by the following 4 cadets from our institution held at Marthandam from 21.08.2009 to 30.08.2009.

The 3 cadets, S. Shangeetha, V. Shyamala Devi and R. Maria Baslin attended Launch II for TSC at Mannar Tirumalai Nayakar College, Madurai from 5th September to 14th September 2009.  They had been selected and undergone All India Thal Sainik Camp from 18th September to 29th September 2009.

                                      

                                    

17 Cadets from I year attended Pre CATC at Manner Thirumalai Nayak College, Madurai from 5th September to 14th September.Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) was held at SFR College, Sivakasi from 1st December to 10th December 2009. 26 Cadets from II year and 38 Cadets from I year (totally 64 Cadets) had been participated in this camp.

                            S. Pushpa of II Chemistry, H. Sameena Naaz of II Maths and P. Suriya Sudha of II Sociology had been participated in the National Integration Camp (NIC) at Arakkonam from 7th December to 20th December 2009 for 12 days.

                            A. Rubana of I History, M. Uma Maheswari of I Zoology & T. Eswari of I Maths (SF)  were attended Medical attachment Camp at Chennai from 1st – 15th March 2010.

      CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION:

                            In the last year examination conducted by the NCC unit, 66 students appeared “B” certificate exam and 57 cadets passed in it. 27 Cadet appeared the “C” certificate examination and all of them cleared the paper.

                            41 cadets are going to write “C” certificate exam and 50 cadets are going to appear in “B” certificate examination in this year (2009 – 2010).

 SOCIAL SERVICE ACTIVITIES:

                        83 cadets from our college participated in the “Cancer Awareness Rally” insisting Anti tobacco awareness on 7th October 2009 from Meenakshi College to Medical College conducted by 2 (TN) NCC girls Battalion.

                      127 cadets of our college took part in “Anti Plastic rally” conducted by 7 Battalion NCC, Madurai from Thamukam Ground to American College on 10th October 2009.

  Marathon Race:

                     10 NCC Cadets offered their service to arrange Marathon race on “Anemia” was organized by Dhan Foundation from Fatima College to Gandhi Museum on 23rd January 2010.

 

 REPUBLIC DAY PARADE:

                     13 Cadets from our institution took part in the March Past on Republic Day i.e 26th January 2010 in Race Course.
