Home
The Department of Commerce had its humble origin in the year 1975 with B.Com course and was upgraded as Post Graduate Department in 1980.The M.Phil course was started in the year 2006 as a self-supporting course. The Department provides the students comprehensive commerce education and motivates them to become professionals like Cost Accountants, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries and Business Executives. The Department has signed MOUs with DHAN Foundation, Indian Bank and Institute of Company Secretaries of India for enabling the overall development of the students.
Goals of the Department:
The Department operates with the following goals
  1. To strengthen the knowledge of the students and give them a strong foundation in all the Commerce subjects
  2. To expose them to the application of computers in Commerce
  3. To make them suitable for employment by imparting various skills needed to empower them
  4. To give a wholesome development of their personality by imparting a good value system

Degree Content:
            The B.Com course content includes components as Part I – Language (only for 2 semesters), Part II – English (for 4 semesters), and Part III – Subject Papers. Part III includes Major papers, Elective papers and Interdepartmental papers.
The B.Com course follows credit system and the mandatory credits are 140. There are opportunities to earn extra credits too
