BBA DEPARTMENT

OBJECTIVE OF THE DEPARTMENT:

          TO DEVELOP MANAGERIAL AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS OF THE STUDENTS THROUGH A PRAGMATIC APPROACH TO MODERN BUSINESS WITH A SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS CONCEPTS AND A OVER ALL DEVELOPMENT OF THE STUDENTS.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:
           
The Department of Business Administration was started in the year 1995-96 following the syllabus framed by Madurai Kamaraj University and gradually the department stepped into autonomy.

FOCUS ON OUR HIGHLIGHTS:

·         Organised two Regional level seminars (2003&2004).

·         Two Inter collegiate competitions (2003&2004) were organized.

·         One day seminar on “Consumer Delight in Service sector “conducted on 24 January 2005.

·         One day State level seminar on “Corporate Ethics “organized on 15 Feb’ 2006.

·         One day State level seminar on “Human Resource Management” organized on 14 March 2007.

·         One day State level seminar on “Small Business Management” organized on 30th January 2008.

·         One day State level seminar on “Rural Marketing” organized on 2nd  March 2009.

·         One day State level seminar on “Retail Management” organized on 3rd February 2010.

·         Won Seven Overall shields in the intercollegiate competitions.

 EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:

                            Students visit “The Association of Arulagam”, a Home for sexually exploited and oppressed women and young girls from poverty stricken families who need protection from all kinds of exploitation in the society.
Our students extend basic education to the illiterates by teaching them English, Tamil and Mathematics.

                             At present we are associated with V.T.R.C. PENIAL INFANTS HOME, PONMENI,  MADURAI-10. It is an orphanage for the children who are made destitute by their families. There are more than 35 inmates of various age groups, and they are studying in the nearby schools. From 1st standard to 8th standard students are there in the home who are really in need of assistance for various subjects. Our B.B.A students (IInd and IIIrd year) visit this home every week Saturday between 2.00- 4.00 p.m and help the students to study all the subjects.

·         R.Serine and S.Ramya presented a paper on “Role of Managers in the Changing Business Scenario” and won the 2nd Prize in Yadava Women’s College.(2005)

Students Represented MKU:

·         ANGELA SHIBANI represented MKU in south zone inter university competition in the year 2003.

·         S.KRIPA & S.RAMYA represented MKU in the national seminar & training camp on the topic “Disaster Management” organized by Indian Red Cross Society in the year 2003.

·         S.KRIPA & SHARMILA CRUZ represented MKU in south zone inter university competition in the year 2004.
